Kate Pelling - Video Artist
Kate Pelling is a UK based artist whose practice consists of video, drawing and theoretical writing. Her current research project is concerned with the relationship between speech and editing processes in artists' direct address to camera. Kate Pelling studied at Wimbledon School of Art, London, and Birkbeck, University of London. She has exhibited extensively in the UK and the USA, and also in Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, and Switzerland.
Previous projects have included an exploration of the generation of knowledge within video performance when considered as a simulacrum of performance and In Pursuit of Elvis which investigated Elvis impersonation; becoming Elvis through queer narrative, constructed identities and the pursuit of the unachievable, grief, authenticity and the performative.
Kate Pelling is very tall and beautiful and lives outrageously in London UK, with a seraglio of handsome, young men.
